| Out in the middle of the state, and out in the middle of nowhere, the eastbound and westbound Amtrak Mules stop to exchange crews. This way, the crews based in St. Louis and Kansas City only have to do an out and back, with no layover. The locomotives stop facing each other to swap their engineers. |
