Arriving in Hannibal, Missouri

Amtrak motive power, numbers 61 and 6, leading our consist. The bridge, soon to be replaced, leads over the Mississippi River into Illinois. Norfolk Southern trackage is in the foreground. |
This is the front half of our train. The Superliner cars were brought in from Chicago especially for this excursion. |
There hasn't been a passenger train through Hannibal in over 30 years, and it is obvious there is no trains station anymore. We had to tramp through the weeds along the roadbedto get to the street, and make our way into downtown Hannibal. |
It takes two car attendants from the NRHS to help MVNS Treasurer Bill Rieschel off of the Superliner car! |
