Waiting for the Train in Lees Summit

Photos by Dan Harding

Just about every small town along the right of way has a MoPac caboose on static display.

Here is our group, minus Dan Harding the photographer, as we wait for our train to pick us up.

The Amtrak "station" at Lees Summit is little more than a bus stop shelter.

Here comes the same train, turned around and headed back east toward St. Louis. It is already 15 minutes late. It will be dark before we know it, and the scenery will fade into blackness outside our windows. We are tired and want to get back home. The club car ran out of Polish sausage. We will arrive in Kirkwood an hour late. The UP dispatcher made our train go 20 MPH through an entire block because the occupancy light was lit on his panel.
